A list of software I use on a regular basis to access and manipuate data on my computer and the Internet.
On The Internet
Browsers- Its been a while since I last used Internet Explorer to surf. For me it has been Firefox and now since the last couple of months Flock, yet another re-skinned Firefox (Mozzila). These two browsers have made me look beyond just surfing and reading on the Internet. The Internet has now become a participatory playground. Please support these services.
Messengers- Pandion, a Jabber client and Meebo, the darling of the Internet community. These are my messengers of choice. MSN Messenger is a bloatware with very limited customisation opportunities. Plus it feels nice to use Open Source projects and alphas and learn as you go by. Trust me these alphas are more stable than all the finished ware that you get in the market.
Feedsters/One Stop Shops- For want of a better terminology, The One Stop Shops such as Netvibes and Pageflakes are slowly getting people to appreciate what Web 2.0 is all about. Confusing yet convenient is what one novice told me. I’d agree on both counts, but then that is technology for you.
Offline
Music- iTunes all dandy i hear. I’m however still stuck to my Winamp, force of habit or maybe because I’ve unearthed a bunch of amazing plugins. Winamp still plays me whats music to my ears.
